Concealed Carry Class FAQ



Q: Where are the classes held?
A: The classes are held at:

Q: I cannot make the class I signed up for, can I change the class date?
A: You can reschedule one time if needed but rescheduling has to be done prior to the start of the class. Please text us at 734.250.1825 for rescheduling.

Q: What time do classes begin?
A: Classes begin at 8:30 a.m.  Please arrive 10 minutes early.

Q: How long are classes? Will we get out early?
A: Classes are 8 Hours minimum. You will not get out before the 8 hours.

Q: Are snacks allowed in class?
A: Yes, feel free to bring whatever snacks and drinks you like.  

Q: What do I need to bring to the class?
A: Your Drivers license or state ID.  If you have your own firearm and ammunition, feel free to bring them (rentals are available if you do not own a firearm).

Q: How old do you have to be to take the CPL Class?
A: At least 20 years old. To receive a CPL from the State of Michigan you have to be 21 years old. 

Q: I don't have a gun, can I rent one?
A: Yes. It is $25 for gun rental and ammo. Please let us know when you arrive for class if you would like to rent a gun.

Q: Can I bring my own ammunition?
A: If you are bringing your own firearm to the class you can also bring your own ammo.  Personal ammo cannot be used in rental firearms.

Q: Can I bring my own gun?
A: Yes, as long as it's a safe and functional handgun. Ensure that you transport it properly to and from the range: unloaded in the trunk of your vehicle, separate from the ammunition. (Note: Students u
nder 21 cannot rent a firearm from a licensed dealer so they will have to bring their own firearm.) 

Q: Can I share a gun with a fellow attendee?
A: Yes.

Q: What do I receive at the end of the class?
A: After successful completion of the class you will receive a "Certificate of Completion".  This is the certificate you will take, along with $115, to your County Clerk's office to apply to the state for your CPL. It must be the Clerk of the county you reside in.

Q: How long does it take to get my CPL License?
A: It depends on the county and the current demand. Generally 3-6 weeks. The state is required to approve or deny within 45 days of the application.
